Come From Away – AUG 20 – 30
Pullman, WA — The Regional Theatre of the Palouse (RTOP) invites audiences to experience one of the most moving and uplifting musicals of our time with Come From Away, running August 20 through August 30, 2026.
Viewing the events of September 11, 2001 from a different perspective, and based on a remarkable true story, Come From Away tells the tale of compassion in the wake of uncertainty. In the days following 9/11, an isolated town in Newfoundland welcomed 7,000 airline passengers from all over the world whose planes were rerouted from American airports following the tragedy. In the process of opening their homes, those in the small town of Gander also opened their hearts and, in the process, forged relationships with “the people from the planes” that would last a lifetime.
Come From Away takes a daring look at one of the darkest moments in American history and shows us that despite the pain, light can still shine through in the kindness and generosity of others. Whether you remember the events of that harrowing day 25 years ago or not, anyone who finds themselves watching this beautiful show will be able to relate to the remarkable and deeply human characters and will be moved by the intricate, honest music. No matter where we may come from, this one-act musical speaks to our common humanity and highlights our need for community in the midst of chaos.
With a soaring folk-inspired score and a fast-paced, ensemble-driven story, the musical captures both the emotional weight and unexpected joy found in this extraordinary moment in history.
